My Life as a Baseball Player

By, Cody

Did you know every baseball player gets at least $43,000 dollars in 34 games? (www.thepeoplehistory.com/baseballhistory.html) You can play until no one wants you, or you can play for the rest of your life! You do not usually do that because you will be probably too old to play in baseball in your mid 50’s or 60’s. The career I am interested in is baseball and it is a very amazing career to have. You get paid a lot of money during your season and what’s unique about it is that the more fans you have the more money your coach will receive. The better equipment your team uses, the better the team performs. The money earned from tickets sales and other things from the fans and probably get better players and win. You need to be the best anyone can steal the position or your starting spot on the team. It’s necessary in our community to make fans excited to come and watch the game and the more happy faces the more money my coach makes and it is exciting to get new players you can cooperate with and better equipment to make your catcher gear feel better. If the coach buys a bat for the team you might like the bat more than your other bat you used.

Baseball is a very rewarding career to have because you have to be great at the sport and you have to pass the minor leagues and if you do that you are an amazing baseball player and will definitely be awarded with a million dollars at least at the end of your career for two seasons. I want to be a baseball player because the community needs somebody who’s energetic, loves the game, good at fielding, and good contact, and want s the team to succeed and win. I think I would be the person who could step up and do that and make sure more fans come and the game is more entertaining for me, other fans, to my teammates who teach me how to do better and what I can do to be a great starter for the coach and be the best I can be. Also, to our coaches who are showing us how to do better and improve our fundamentals.

The best colleges to attend have to be well to improve in the United States for a baseball player and one of those many great colleges to go to is at Vanderbilt University because they have good coaches. They will get a lot of fans and they also have supporting teammates who will help you on. What the coach expects from you every day is hard work, success, and failure to learn about what you did wrong but not too much to lose the game. The college will try to get more money. You will work efficiently practicing harder things during the season during games. (www.vanderbilt.edu/financialaid/undergraduate/satisfactory-progress.php)

The tuition there for Vanderbilt University is $43,000 yearly (college-tutition.startclass.com/1/3849/Vanderbilt-University) and this college is special and amazing because the coach will tell you how to do what you are having trouble with fundamentals like hitting, fielding, and base running and it is important to know what is going on and to be focused instead of dazing around and pretending to know what you are doing because one minor error on base running, fielding, or hitting can cost you the game in one second. Also, you do not need a degree because you are getting a 401k if you like. All, you need to do is dominate in Double AA, and skip Triple AAA and go straight to the big leagues where the pitchers throw over 80-105 mph, you field the ball when it can take amazing hops and you can mess up at any moment, and the catcher has a great arm and if you go for second. You can get out very easy. ( MLB 2k10 My Player Intro) but to not get picked off; you have to pay attention while you are running the bases or when you steal, hit and run, and getting back to the base as fast as possible to avoid the tag and get out and your coach will probably force you to run laps at the end of the game.

This article was also about college and how I can get into the MLB quickly and talking about why the college is great for me and what I need to do to do to be successful in this job.  It was also about what you should do in the big leagues to have a better future, you will show more progress, and you will prove to your Double AA, or Triple AAA coach that you can do what they told you and become the best Major League Baseball player ever and make history and your Double AA coach or Triple AAA coach will remember you and what you did to prove them right during the years they worked with you.

Job Responsibilities & Description

I will be telling you what my jobs about and my responsibilities I have to be a team member. My job skills for responsibilities are oral comprehension, stamina, problem sensitivity, oral expression, static strength, speech clarity, and arm-hand steadiness, multilimb Coordination, and near vision, and selective attraction.  (http://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/27-2021.00) My job looks like me learning fundamentals like batting practice, conditioning, sliding into home plate and having a game or practice every day. A typical day of work is practice or a game or talking what you could do better in your game or practice today. Also, when you hit like your 1,000 hit or something like that and it’s a homerun or grand rule double, the fan might not give it back. My day is about 3-5 hours long every day. I practice batting, fielding, catching, and pitching (bleacherreport.com/articles/250/442-fan-who-caught-alex-rodriguezs-3000-hit-doesn’t-plan-to-give-it-to-player)

The most important things are to show up to my job because my coaches, my teammates, and the fans who watch the baseball game can be inspired to play, or watch it more frequently than they have ever had. To be a star player on your team, you have to do the best, you need to be the first one to practice, a game, pictures, and huddles to talk about what the team could have done better in that inning and what they can do to put some runs to make up for our bad effort and you have to show that we can win and we can’t and won’t give up even if were down ten runs any inning. We play till the game is over. My job is important because I have to encourage myself to better and you will eventually strikeout 100-200 times and you hit the ball and they catch it or you ground out and you mess up. But when it is all up to you. We know we can do it. (MLB2K10 MyPlayer Intro on YouTube). If my job didn’t exist there would not be baseball and probably there would be no sports. It helps the fans feel happy about their lives. There would be less excitement and fun in the world and pressuring moments for Major League baseball players.

It helps them thinking that if I do a good job at work and I am respectful to my wife. I can watch the game and there will be more nice people around. It helps my community because people will say, “Look at Cody. I want to be just like him. He is so athletic and fast.” They try it out and either they like it or they don’t like it. They also will be happy you got him into baseball, or softball for girls. I like seeing the happy children playing the game and I like learning about what pitchers throw and I need to know my fundamentals like base running when it is caught you go back to the base or you go to the base and tag up and advance safely. The best hitters can hit homeruns on any pitch especially a curveball. It is very hard to stay back because you want to rip the ball and get a base hit because you want to lunge forward because it looks like a fastball. This paragraph was about the academics, supporting the fans who would like to play baseball like you do, benefits of your job, and the pure skills of being a professional baseball player, and what kids need to do to be in the Major League Baseball team.

I get paid a lot of money and what I need for a better education in the Major League Baseball Association. I get paid of how good my fundamentals are and how good my conditioning is and how long I can play before warring down. You get paid a yearly salary in the MLB. Mark Teixeira will play for eight years. If you perform well you will probably get a better yearly salary and the more experience. If you play for 8-10 years or more; you will probably get a huge paycheck if you are still a good or great baseball player. He will make 180 million dollars. He just made the contract and is 35 years old. You would not make more money with more education, only if you have a baseball clinic which means that you are wealthy and can buy that and can do very good in baseball and your coach wants you to succeed. Benefits come along with your job is that there are medical, dental, vision, coverage, and MLB.com for Free. MLB.com is where you get to watch other games to see who you are going against in the playoffs. (mlb.mlb.com/careers/index.jsp?loc=benefits). I get to travel a lot because I go to different towns, cities, and different states to play against my opponent.  You can’t work at home because you are always physically active and you need to go out to play on the diamond which actually is the baseball field. Yes, a pension is a regular payment mode during a person’s retirement from an investment. Go to govern employees only. (Dictionary.com). Yes, you can have a 401k if you want to but you don’t need it. You can just go to college which is the better understanding. (athletewealt.com/mlbvanguard401k/). Also, my job needs you to work as hard as you can everyday and you get paid of how good you are when you practice or pay. Also, the Civil Union, Paid Time Off, Health Care, Basic Life Insurance, Ad&d Insurance, and MLB.com Discounts, Short and Long-term disabilities, College Savings and Investment Plan, 401K, Health Club discounts, On-site Fitness Facility, Commuter Benefits Program, and Employee Partner discounts.(mlb.mlb.com/careers/index.jsp?loc=benefits.)

You can be as old as you want to play and the fundamentals you need. There is a lot of growth because the more practice the better you get. You would probably retire around 30 to 40 to 50 years old and you can promote anytime, anyplace, and anywhere.  The best position is a baseball player. Yes, I love the game. It’s awesome to be in the batter’s box because it is a little nervous to wait for a pitch to come in at 80-105 mph. That’s faster than a cheetah at acceleration. The tools I can you use to do better are the diving boards where you can stretch your upper body and your flips, diving platforms where you can work on you aerodynamics; golf clubs help you get more upper and lower body strength, gymnastic bars or beams helps your arms have more power, ice skates help your legs go fast and helps your balance when you try to stop the ball, weight benches or racks will help your chest, biceps ,and triceps get more muscle into them. (http://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/27-2021.00) Also, I love fielding, hitting, pitching, and base running. Some interesting things are if you have a .290 batting average and if you field the ball amazing and put your but down and make a good throw to 1st also when you are base running you need to have an eye on the pitcher so when his leg moves to the side he is trying to pick you off.  You probably will get a million dollars for your yearly salary. Also, if you hit 763 homeruns; you will have hit the most homeruns in the MLB. You will definitely be in the Hall of Fame. The paragraph was about the interesting facts about baseball players which is my job. What amazing accomplishments I can succeed and what I have to go through to get at that level.

You, too, can be in the MLB and you need to know the amazing things you can do and you will be fine in the MLB. To be the best baseball player you need to be on time and be very respectful to your coach like a teacher in school. You can be and you can accomplish anything and we talked about how you can be the best player in the whole entire MLB and can help you do anything is the coaches like John Madden in one season has already led the Cubs to the playoffs. If the Cubs have not won in 108 years they could now because they have a well-rounded coach. To be the best baseball player ever you are going to be good and hit a lot of homeruns.

Baseball Great

By, Valentin

Valentin Cerna has been playing for nine years, and has also won many awards. I remember when he hit his first home run and everybody got to sign his ball. That day was his last day of the season because T-ball was ending.

Years later Valentin was in farm league and hit four home runs. Farm league was a league for kids of young ages. The last season in farm he won the championship. He looked sad after the first year in the minors because he could have played one more year in farm with his brothers.

Every year there is a party for Grant Travel Baseball – another team Valentin was a player for. There was one event he wanted to do which was the home run derby for the minors and Valentin won the event!

Later, Valentin played one more year with Grant and moved to play for Antioch, a travel team. Most of the teammates in Grant came to play for Antioch, too. That year was pretty fun. He hit a walk-off triple in the championship in Milwaukee.

Now the team Valentin is in is Lake County Lightning travel team. He was excited to play for them and also part of his team from last year came with. The first year in the travel team his team went to two championships! One came in first and the other came in second.

The last year Valentin had a lot of fun. His team went to six out of eight championships. Four of them got first, and two won second place. Valentin’s team went out of town for the tournaments, and went to water parks. The last tournament was a big tournament for Lake County but the team did not do that well, however Valentin did. That tournament took place in Kentucky. He was selected for the All-Star team in the tournament from his team!

Now, Valentin is currently playing for Lake County Lightning 13u!

“A baseball player is a success you can achieve if you try.” My Hero: Melky Cabrera

By, Cody F.

My hero is Melky Cabrera. He has made very smart decisions during his career. He hit 99 homeruns and played in 1,357 games. He has 4,990 at bats, 672 runs, 1,421 hits, 269 doubles, 37 triples, and 593 RBI’s. He walked 389 times with 662 strikeouts in 10 seasons. He has 95 stolen bases and has a batting average of .285!

I like Melky Cabrera because he is energetic, hits the ball well, and loves to catch a pop-up in the left field. He cares for his teammates. When his teammates perform poorly he is supportive and encouraging. He is very smart about baseball. He knows his fundamentals like fielding and hitting. When he gets on base like 2nd or 1st he knows when he should steal, when to run when the ball is on the ground, and when it’s a pop-up. He has very high-quality contact power. He is very strong and I like his bat speed. It goes pretty fast! He also is so hard to strikeout! You have to fool him on a pitch. He is not an unsportsmanlike person. He is a good influence.

One day, I want to go to the MLB and be as good an athlete as Melky Cabrera!

I want to be remembered and if I watch him and be like him, I could be remembered easily!
