Review of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Review of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before By:Shaylin S.

The title of my book is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, written by Jenny Han. The genre is Young Adult Fiction. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before takes place in Virginia, at the Covey household, Kavinsky household, The High school, and the Lacrosse field.

The book is in 1st person point of view. Lara Jean Covey tells her story. It’s only Lara Jean’s point of view.

The tone of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is sentimental. I think her tone is sentimental because she wrote a love story and wanted people to understand how her characters felt. Her tone is about sentimental feelings.

Lara Jean Covey, is in love with idea of love. Love stories, love movies, love songs, love letters. Lara Jean writes love letters. She writes love letters that are not meant to be sent. One day the letters go missing, and her old crushes have the letters.

The main conflict in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is Lara Jean’s letters go missing out of the hatbox her mother had giving her.

I honestly loved To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, it was such a cute love story. All the characters are extremely relatable, lovable, and caring. It’s every teenage girls dream love story. It’s my favorite book I’ve ever read.

Lara Jean Covey, is a 16 year old girl. Who loves to read about love. She’s in love with the idea of love. What makes Lara Jean so relatable is that she’s super awkward and she’s quirky.

Some of Lara Jean’s character traits are Quirky, awkward. I think she’s quirky because she loves love. She’s also very awkward because she freezes up when she talks to boys. “ You were never second best” This quote is from Peter Kavinsky. He’s telling Lara that she was never his second choice. “ You’d rather make up some fantasy version of someone, than be with a real person.” THis quote is also from Peter Kavinsky. He’s telling Lara that she’s stuck in a daze\ fantasy world and is scared to be with a real person.

Lara Jean learns that it’s okay to love a real life person and not always have her nose in a love story, and not to worry about everyone else. The big idea in this story is love. Lara Jean realizes it’s not always about fantasy love stories. She realizes that it’s normal for her to have feelings for a boy that’s not in a book.

The theme is that love conquers all. Lara is so in love with the idea of love she drags herself into the fantasy world of reading love stories.

Yes this book is part of a series. The second book is P.S I Love You and the third book is Always and forever, Lara Jean. This is also a movie, it’s on Netflix. Jenny Han has written other books like The Summer I Turned Pretty series. There are other books in the genre but not like To All The Boys’ I’ve Loved Before. I recommend this book to 13-18 year olds. Mostly girls would like this book because girls prefer romance stories. If you love romance, love, love letters, drama and tears you’ll love this book. I would rate this book/series 5 out of 5. This is my favorite book and I love re reading this whole series and watching the movie.

Review of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID DOG DAYS BY Thomas L.

Review of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID DOG DAYS BY Thomas L.

DIARY OF WIMPY KID DOG DAYS.

The author is Jeff Kinney who writes the genre: realistic fiction novel.

The setting is summer break. The narrative point of view is first person and tone is friendly. Greg Heffley goes on the town to see what he can do this summer break and go on adventures with his friends. This was good novel to read; it was a little bit funny and little bit corny too .

Greg Heffley is a person that is funny but you don’t see him like that but on his comics are good and really funny. His friend Rowley is his best friend they do everything together and go on trips together. But Rowley’s parents don’t like Greg at all but they deal with him.

This book is in a series it’s as well in a movie too.

In the series there are 12 books . The year of this movie come out 2012. I would recommend this book to 10 age 14 year old and boy or girl. That this book is a really funny book for everyone .I rate this book a five star book because this book is really funny and you can relate and deal with most of the problems that he encounters in summer break before school starts up again.

ATTACK ON TITAN

A Book review by Jakob C. 🙂

Set in a Horror fantasy world where the humans have been enslaved to the comfort of the walls by these giant humanoid creatures called Titans and follows three main characters, Eren Jeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlet, where we see the three of them when they were 9 years old as a titan they labeled the “Colossal” titan, a 60 meter titan controlled by Bertholdt Hoover broke through the outer Shiganshina Wall and the Armored Titan controlled by Reiner Braun destroyed the inner Shiganshina and Eren’s mother, Carla Yeager, was eaten by a Titan and Eren was determined to kill all of the Titans, and inlisted in the 104 Cadet corps with Mikasa and Armin. There is a skip to when Eren and some of the other graduates are checking on wall Trost when the Colossal Titan appears again and destroys the outer wall, but the Armored Titan did not appear, and in this encounter Eren and everyone but Armin in his Squad is killed and eaten by Titans, and later in the attack a Titan is seen killing others, and we later find out that Titan was controlled by Eren himself, the official term for his Titan form is the Attack Titan(Middle), along with 8 others, the Armored Titan(Right Middle), the Colossal Titan(Left Middle), the Female Titan(Right), the Cart Titan(Not Shown), the Jaws Titan(Left), the Warhammer Titan (Not Shown, and the Beast Titan(Not Shown), and the Founding Titan (Middle)

(Time Skip a few years)

There is a war going on with the Eldian People (Titans) and the Marley(Pure Humans) Armin Arlet has inherited the Colossal Titan after eating Bertholdt as a Mindless titan, Eren, Mikasa and Armin are working with the Eldians from the Cart Titan Pieck, the Jaws Titan Porco, the Beast Titan Zeke, and The War Hammer Titan (Defeated and Eaten by Eren Jeager, giving him the Attack Titan, the Founding Titan, and the Warhammer Titan) Levi Ackerman, titled “Humanity’s Strongest Soldier” Beat Zeke, the “Warchief” for the Marlays. There are currently no more books out yet so I have to wait till December 😦 Overall though the book series was great at explaining everything to me and the anime helped me because i could watch what was going on mostly.

Now onto Paragraph 2, I’ll make this one a bit shorter

The Main Character I will be focusing on is Eren Yeager, the series Poster Boy, he is currently 19 Years of age from the latest book, he is an interesting character because of his complexity. His Father, Grisha Yeager, after stealing the Founding Titan Power from the Reiss Family had turned Eren into a Mindless Titan and had Eren eat his father, giving him the Founding and Attack Titan powers at a young age. Eren is best described as hardheaded, strong-willed, passionate, and impulsive, which are attributes of both his strong determination to protect mankind and, eventually, his equally strong determination to escape the Walls.

“You have to Fight. If you don’t fight you can’t win” – Eren Yeager

“On that day, mankind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear of the titans, and were disgraced to live in these cages we called walls.” – Eren Yeager

Paragraph 3!

The Connection with the book I can make is with real life, and that was lucky we’re not in some world where we live in fear of the creatures around us. This Book Series has 3 Anime Series. Some similar books are Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online (Don’t watch the Anime, it’s NOT GOOD O-O) And Death Note. I would recommend this book to people of any gender and ages from 14-20, if you love a good thriller suspenseful story with great characters and a plot easy to follow with a lot of lore along the way.

I Rate this Book 5 Smiling Titans out of 5 Smiling Titans

Review of “Girl of Fire And Thorns”

By Aurora B.

Rae Carson sets her past-day fantasy fiction novel, “The Girl of Fire and Thorns,” throughout of the kingdom of Orovalle and the kingdom of Joya d’Arena. This book is in first person view to elaborate the journey of the character, Elisa and what she is experiencing and what’s happening and how it affects her. The tone of this book is intense and unstable. It’s written to create suspense and anxiety among the reader. This book is about how Princess Elisa, Bearer of the God stone is married off to a king named Alejandro in the kingdom of Joya d’Arena. She is then quickly kidnapped to a struggling village to help them fight against the kingdom’s thriving enemy, the Invierne. She then takes position of the leader of the small army and begins to learn to fight side by side with them. Throughout this time the God stone helps the village with their attempts to weaken the Invierne army and its supplies. Overall the book was adventurous and exciting and was good for visual learners because it was detailed in description and easy to imagine in your head. Though I thought it was cliché, it was a good book overall.

Elisa, being a princess and God stone bearer of Orovalle, was vitally important. She had become a mere princess to a war hero for Orovalle and Joya d’Arena. She is a natural leader and a good thinker when coming to pressure. What makes this character relatable or interesting is that in the midst of all these things happening to her she experiences grief and pain and suffers through it. She has what the people call the God stone which grants her powers and prophecies that she gets directly from God. This makes her vital for Orovalle’s survival and life. She is also interesting because only every hundred years does a God stone appear in a civilization or in the world. Elisa is a wise person because she states in the book, “You must not lose faith, child. No matter what. Do not doubt God or his choosing of you. He knows infinitely more than we can imagine.” Stating that Elisa should keep her head high as they figure out a way to fend off Invierne. This shows she is full of knowledge and has experienced much in her life and knows what to do in that time of doubt. The character Elisa is also a caring person as it is said in the book, “my people are perfectly capable without me but maybe I need them.” Delivering the point that she would help her fellow people and her husband in any situation and that they have become a family even though she had to leave back to the kingdom of Joya d’Arena to help the war cause from there. Though Elisa struggles and grieves Elisa is also empowered by this experience and feels stronger mentally and physically and feels as though she is becoming new.

In this book Elisa learns that life isn’t easy and that it’s up to you to decide your own fate. The big idea is that you shouldn’t underestimate someone. Throughout the book Elisa is brought to tragedy and difficult times. This shapes the character Elisa to the concluding point of the book and how she grew as a person and that you can always improve from your hard times.

Connections this book has with life is that it shows how you can grow to be a better person through experience and through different points in your life. This book has a trilogy with the two more books being,”Crown of Embers,”and,”The Bitter Kingdom”,but there is no movie. Rae Carson has also published the book, “Life a River.” I would recommend this book to teenagers or young adults because of the war and sometimes graphic scene’s. I think both boys and girls can read this and that if they were interested in fantasy and conflict in war, conflict, romance, and magic. I would rate this book 4.5 stars because it seemed a little cliché and easy to follow with the conflict and plot. It was a good book of adventure and courage. This book has unique characters and lots of good drama and morals with growth and tragedy but a great book in the overall.
