Summer

The sun shines down on me

The sweat forms onto my skin

It gets hotter out

The pools uncover

The people put on swim suits

The kids splash around

The ice cream song play

The ice cream truck comes to town

Kids run for the truck

Short sleeve shirts are worn

The kids get out tricycles

They bike near the house

Sports

I Like to play sports

I compete with other teams

It is challenging

Some people watch them

Other like to play the sport

Some people just don’t like them

Some play in college

Some like to play in high school

Parents watch the games

It is good for health

A lot of people lose weight

They like to play them

The Ledge

The air smelled clean. I took another deep breath that froze my lungs. Huge trees passed me as I ran, overturning damp dirt and rocks jarring my bare feet. A bird chirped overhead, the first sound not being my own. I slowed my pace, crushing dry leaves and twigs as I went. Hanging above, entangling branches and their leaves blocked the night sky I hoped was dotted with bright stars. The quiet trickle of the river told me I was nearing my destination. An owl screeched, startling me, as it flew across the path, a small white mouse in its sharp talons. I continued toward the sound of moving liquid. The trees started to thin out, inches growing into yards between each. I stopped at the clearing. The ledge, an overlook to the mountains with their own forest coverings, stood treacherously tall, just feet away. A tree sat dead, just keeping itself from falling into the deep valley. My eyes wandered to the sky, staring into the pools of sapphire blue and dazzling green, lit solely by the large, white moon suspended in the clouds.

The Burning Horizon

By, The Anonymous Poet
It was a beautiful night. The wind pierced my light blue sweatshirt as if it were paper being cut by scissors. As I looked over the ridge I sat atop, I saw a breathtaking blue lake and great blinding streaks of orange, yellow, and red in the beautifully lit sky. On the very horizon was an extreme burning ball of flames, hurtful to look at, yet hard to look away from. At the very bottom of the ridge was a few tall pine trees. The whole area smelled like a beautiful natural nature. I could hear the sound of the birds chirping and flying to find food for their children before night fall.

As the sky grew darker, the beauty of the warms turned colds. The sky took a new approach and transformed the oranges, yellows and reds, to the dark purples, blues, greens. As the temperature dropped so did the light from the fireball of light in the sky. As the sky changed from purple to black the sun went down, and the mind blowing space appeared. Out of nowhere the sky started changing through all the colors of the day.

That day, I’ll never forget, the one that opened up my eyes.

Then I awoke.

Fall to Winter

In fall, the leaves and beautiful trees are changing. The green leaves’ colors change to red, yellow, or orange. The trees begin to wilt, all sad and alone.

The weather starts to change.

The wind gets stronger, air gets colder.

Shorts can no longer be worn, just jeans.

No more sandals, just boots.

Beanies and knitted sweaters, leggings and hoodies.

Bright colors change to neutral.

Clocks go back.

The sun begins to go down earlier.

Nights get colder, days get shorter.

Open your eyes one day, to see yourself looking out at the white, soft layer of snow on the ground. Fall has just ended, and winter has now just begun.
