cheriKim is my hero. Kim is a psychologist at Antioch Upper Grade School. I met her at the beginning of the year last year when I was going through a really hard time at a really bad foster home. Kim was always there for me to talk to. Near the end of the year, around April, my foster parents decided that they didn’t want my little sister living with them anymore. Then, it was  just me and my big sister together. And then in May they decided they didn’t want me and my big sister there either and they only gave us until June 5th to find another home. Kim always told me how she wanted to take me home so I told my caseworker about her because I had no other place to go. My caseworker said it was a possibility because there was a new thing that came out in DCFS called “Fictive Kin” that made it so kids can go with a close relative or close friend. Kim was so excited about it and so was I.  After a couple of days Kim and her husband Ryan, got everything they needed to do to take me home. On the last day of school I got to go home with her. Now I am happier than  I’ve ever been in a while. I am so grateful to  be living with the best family ever! I love them all so much!
