In law enforcement there are many decisions for you to choose from. For example, Federal Law, State and Local Law, and Law Enforcement Accreditation. You can apply to any agency of your choice, based on your skill of education. All policemen and policewomen are import in law enforcement because if there were no policemen, there would be many crimes committed, for example, murders, robbery, and rape. Nobody would do anything about it and there would be criminals everywhere, which would not be safe. Some everyday risks about being a cop are; you get shot at, you have to dodge bullets, do hard work with critical thinking, and research to provide evidence for your cases. Such as, illegal cases. In fact, with this job there is a lot of responsibilities and that is why a cop is very important career.
There is always training of your ability whether you’ve gone to college or not. Each state and each jurisdiction has different training requirements, and usually attending an academy may be best for training. You could go to an academy then take a job in law enforcement; this helps you with the more experienced part. In fact, you have the option to go to college, but you don’t have as many choices and opportunities. The tuition tends to be a lot though. The longer you go to college, the better or more advanced your options are. The best college to go to is a college with criminal law justice because this is most likely what you will major in. Training and schooling (college) are very important in this career even if you do not choose to go to college.
When your career is a police patrol officer there are a lot of responsibilities. You are working in either an office on a computer, talking to suspects, or assigned an area to patrol in the community, or state. Normally, on your typical day, you are in a patrol car, out in the field, training/testing, or on a base helping with service. This job is important, if there were no policemen/women then there would criminals everywhere. Here your knowledge and credibility for training is quite useful. Also, the ability to be active is useful too because you would have better advantages. However, if you are not fit, or in shape that is why there is training to help you exercise and get in shape.
In your career, your police officer salary rate is mostly above average, and even if you just started out, it still might be above average salary rate. Ranges from $32- $46 an hour. Average is about forty four dollars an hour, a little above one thousand a week. Pay is based on the years of your service. This job does pay hourly, you get paid weekly as well. The more you get paid is based on your knowledge (education). When people are in the law enforcement you do get to travel, but when you travel you will have tasks to accomplish. You also, will probably stay in the United States when you do travel. For this job you could take your work home or anywhere. This is only if you were working on assignments. Your choice of agency or job can be government related. Some perks in the police force is that you have friends and if you don’t then there is a lot of people to choose to be friends with. You are offered a pension in pretty much every career choice in the law enforcement.
Every job has unique things. There is always growth in this job. No there is constant growth in this job. You eventually get promoted after working for several years. If you were to get promoted when you’re a patrol officer you get assigned a different area. For example, you get assigned areas to patrol, keep an eye out for speeders, or look out for illegal cases.Yes, a person like me would love to have this job to protect and serve my community. Every now and then there is a typical drug test because you can not be intoxicated with any drug like substance while you’re in the law enforcement. There is also no discrimination in this career. Everyone’s equal. This is proudly said. Some people prefer this job because of its good qualities like helping out people who need it, but every job has its own unique qualities.
With there being very risky situations in this job it is extremely serious. You get shot at, you have to dodge bullets, and look for hard evidence and research for the specific case you would be working on. In the law enforcement there are plenty, actually too many decisions for you to make, so choose carefully. You should always make sure to be safe yourself. This is because when you are in this job you sometimes might look out for others than you do yourself, so remember to care for yourself as well. When you eventually become a police patrol officer remember there is training, benefits, and more importantly a lot of responsibilities like caring for yourself.
