BOOK REVIEW

          all we have is now

Reviewed by Emily K.

The novel I read, all we have is now, is a suspenseful fiction story. The author is Lisa Schroeder, and the story takes place in Portland, Oregon. This story is in a third person point of view and the main characters are friendly. To summarize the story, Vince and Emerson are both homeless teenagers. They learn that an asteroid is coming to where they live and they can’t do anything about it. They are about to give up everything until they meet a man named Carl who influences them to help other people who may need it. This is a great novel if you love suspense.

The characters are very relatable because they help other people. On page 259, Carl says “I’m curious,” “After you left the bridge, what did you do? Did you find any people to help, like we talked about?” Emerson says “Yeah. We did. We helped a kid become a rock star. And we took a woman to a place very much like Paris. And we took two girls to the Enchanted Forest earlier today.”

Emerson and Vince learn that by helping others, they make themselves and others feel good making them realize that the time you spend on Earth is limited so you should make the best of everything.

The characters are friendly and outgoing. The author has written many other books for the 8-12 age group and 13 and up teenage group. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars since it is the best book I have read so far!
